“Departure” features a Great Blue Heron taking off against a river background. Herons are birds of flight, and roost up in trees, yet they also spend much of their day as water/land birds. Two opposing swirling currents surround the bird: one in the sky directly over the head, and one in the landscape tree-line below the neck.
